Clifford B. Morcom, DVM – Founder

Dr. Clifford Morcom grew up in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, which is where his love for horses really began. While in high school, he worked as a hot walker at the Atlantic City Race Course and developed a deep appreciation for racehorses. Dr. Morcom graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Husbandry. He went on to receive his Masters in Reproductive Endocrinology from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While there, he chose to continue his education and graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1979.

After he graduated, Dr. Morcom worked primarily as an equine veterinarian focusing on race horses at the Monticello raceway in New York. In 1984, he made the decision to move to Massachusetts, where he worked alongside Dr. Fred Hess, and began to broaden his large animal veterinary skills. In 1986, after only two very short years, Dr. Morcom purchased the land surrounding 224 Mill Valley Road, which became the Mill Valley Vet Clinic everyone knows and loves today.

During the intervening years, he purchased his first Standardbred broodmare, raised his three children with his beloved wife Celeste, and continued to serve the Pioneer Valley as a Mixed Animal Veterinarian. Over the past 36 years, the clinic has grown from a one doctor mixed animal practice into a four-doctor practice that constantly strives to bring the newest technology and innovations to our clients. Dr. Morcom retired in 2022 and now spends his time traveling the globe and enjoying his many hobbies.
