Dr. Kira Doherty

Dr. Kira Doherty grew up in central Massachusetts with a family of animal lovers, although she was the only one in her family who loved horses. She graduated from Union College in upstate NY having double-majored in neuroscience and classics and minored in psychology. She did not know she wanted to be a vet until she was thrust into the real world upon graduation. Dr. Doherty went on to work at several vet clinics to gain experience before vet school including spending 2 years as a technician right here at Mill Valley!

In 2024 Dr. Doherty graduated from Michigan State School of Veterinary Medicine and moved to rural New Hampshire to start her career as a mixed practice vet. After a few years she found herself right back here at Mill Valley and continues to learn and grow her skills. Dr. Doherty enjoys working with all animals but has a particular fondness for cats and horses. She values a fear-free approach to limit the stress of visits both in the clinic and on farm calls.

In her free time, Dr. Doherty enjoys trail riding with her Rocky Mountain Horse, Royal, as well as hanging out with her two cats at home, Wally and Fitz.
