Meet Our Team

Laura, Practice Manager

Laura started at Mill Valley Vet Clinic as a large and small animal technician while she completed her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary and Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has a love for animals and has always found ways to immerse herself in the field. Laura grew up riding horses and competing in the IEA, volunteering at cat shelters and animal sanctuaries, and participating in 4H clubs throughout her youth. With years of experience in the veterinary field and managing a team, Laura was the perfect fit to come on as our Practice Manager. Laura has a strong passion for animal care and customer service and is extremely grateful to have such a wonderful team of individuals who are all working towards a common goal. When she isn’t working, Laura is hiking with her dogs Merlin and Umber, spending time with her family and friends, and reading new books.

Client Service Representatives

Bren

Bren has been with Mill Valley for the past 16 years, where her passion for helping others has been the highlight of her career. Offering comfort to pet parents during times of sadness as well as being able to care for all the fur babies that walk through our doors brings her so much joy. Bren’s goal is to continue working with our team as she makes her way to retirement. Bren spends her free time redecorating spaces and cuddling with her sweet kitties, Oopie and Ollie.

Dawn

Dawn joined the Mill Valley team in 2020, after migrating from Amherst Veterinary Clinic, where she had spent the last 25 years providing care to patients and clients in the area. She grew up with a love for animals and has a strong passion for canine behavior. She lives with her husband, Jim, on their little farm where they care for their two dogs, Winston and Possum, their cat, several chickens, and a blind duck. Dawn loves what she does and views the veterinary profession as more of a lifestyle than a choice.

Janis

Janis has been a Belchertown native her entire life, and joined Mill Valley after her daughter became the practice owner in 2019. Janis is a horse lover at heart, although she wishes she had more free time to be able to ride. She loves her three cats; Lucy, the hunter who keeps the home and barn rodent free, Kurt, the oldest and most lovable, and Gray who has the worst temper. Janis loves her job and is grateful for all of the people she gets to work with every day!

Sarah

Sarah started at Mill Valley back in April of 2017 in order to gain experience in a mixed practice, after working for several years at another veterinary clinic where she was a skilled surgical technician. She has always had a passion for animals, and grew up on a small farm with cows, pigs, goats, and chickens. Sarah’s favorite aspect of the veterinary field is seeing the bonds created between animals and their humans. Sarah’s favorite fur baby was her pet cow named Duke. In her down time, Sarah enjoys hiking with her German Shepherd Daisy, kayaking with her friends, and reading. Sarah loves her job because of her dream team at the front desk and all of the other people she works alongside.

Zak

Zak joined our team in 2021, with the goal of becoming more involved in helping the animals of his very own community. He has a lifetime of experience pet sitting as well as over 8 years of customer service experience in a variety of different environments. Zak hopes to grow with our team and to learn more about veterinary medicine, and even though he is just beginning his journey, he has already made great strides in becoming a valuable team member. Mill Valley is his clinic close to home with all the services needed to keep his beloved pets happy and safe. Zak spends his free time hanging out with his 17 year old cat, Kitty, and 4 year old dog, Maxi who is a lab and basset hound mix.

Veterinary Technicians

Renee, Lead Technician & Surgery Technician

Renee has spent the past 30 years working for Mill Valley, where she has been an integral part of the clinic’s growth over the decades. There is never a dull moment for her, as each day has its own challenges and joys and she feels that she is always learning new things. Renee’s husband, Doug, has been her biggest supporter and has allowed her passion for animals to seep into all aspects of their life. They have been blessed with so many amazing animals that have been cared for by Mill Valley. They currently care for their cats named Muppet and Twinkie, sugar gliders named Maple and Cinnamon, horses named Pedro and Miss Kitty, a dozen chickens, and a pond with some rather large goldfish.

Colleen, CVT & Surgery Technician

Colleen has been with Mill Valley since 2010 and loves what she gets to do every day. After being in the veterinary field for more than a decade, she has a strong passion for working in surgery and helping all animals in need. Colleen is very quick to jump in wherever help is needed and is a valuable team member. She always has a smile on her face and brings such a positive mindset every single day. During her free time, she enjoys hiking with her German Shepherds named Mieka and Makai, riding her horses named Snowy and Rezzy, and driving her miniature horse named Rainy. The rest of Colleen’s little farm includes her three cats named Kita, Koqui and Kora, as well as her two bunnies and four guinea pigs.

Jackie, CVT & Surgery Technician

Jackie began her journey with Mill Valley in 2018 as a veterinary technician student through the HCC program in Holyoke. She is now a certified veterinary technician and surgery technician. Jackie has two perfect pups named Clyde and Kalira, who she spends all of her time off with. Jackie feels lucky to say that Mill Valley is her second family, and enjoys coming to work everyday to help our clients and their pets receive the best possible veterinary care.

Carly

Carly is one of Mill Valley’s newest team members and has found passion in her vet tech career. She has a special interest in wildlife medicine with the ultimate goal of working with exotic animals. Carly’s family includes her bunny Bean, her flat-coat retriever Josie, her cats Mooky, Manji & Momma Cat, and her three horses Hope, Lilly & Berniece. When she isn’t working, Carly is painting pet portraits, riding her horses, or hiking with her girl Josie. Carly loves working on our team and truly feels like she is a part of the family. She says that everyone has been so unbelievably welcoming and that Mill Valley has the best teamwork she has ever experienced.

Fia

Fia became very passionate about horses from a very young age, after competing in her first horse show at just ten years old. She competed in the IEA throughout middle and high school in the hunter jumper division riding a quarter horse named Kays Wako Skip. Fia worked at the UMass Equine and Livestock Research Facility in Amherst and later attended school for vet assisting. In 2021, Fia graduated from the HCC veterinary assistant program. She says that Mill Valley has been welcoming and encouraging from day one and helps her to build her knowledge in vet medicine more and more each day. The team is her at work family who takes care of each other

Kalman

Kalman joined Mill Valley with the goal of gaining hands-on experience in the veterinary field. Kalman is a full-time student at UMass Amherst in the pre-vet program and has a future plan of becoming a veterinarian. Kalman loves his many critters named Casper the leopard gecko, General Grievous the tarantula, Penny and Galileo the painted turtles, and Peter rabbit. Kalman loves the variety of animals and cases that Mill Valley sees on a daily basis and really appreciates how helpful and team oriented our team is.

Kate

Kate loves primarily working as a large animal technician, as well as gaining experience in small animal medicine. She thinks that having both services offered in one clinic is the best experience for her as a technician, as it gives her diversity in her day. Kate’s goal is to become a certified technician, learn the skills of a surgery tech, and intern at a large animal specialty hospital to continue her education in the large animal medical field. Kate has two lovely horses Felix and Liam, two troublesome cats Jinx and Sasha, one spicy rabbit Chocolate Chip and an amazing pup Bonnie. Kate loves Mill Valley for its supportive atmosphere and says that everyone is always willing to lend a hand, to share knowledge with each other, and gives compassion to each pet like they are their own. Mill Valley is a clinic that she is very proud to be a part of.
